A while back DJ and producer Monophonic was working on his album „M4“ (released on Phazzadelic) and wanted to have a DJ/scratch track on it as well. He had a nice beat and asked DJ Björnski aka DJ Deiabolus, Huckspin, the real Mr. Boogie and me to record some scratches to it. Easier said than done for me because the record button and I never really came along ever since. So this track is one of very few releases over all the years that is still available. DJ Deiabolus sets it off, Huckspin did the chorus part before it´s my turn and Mr. Boogie rounds it up at the end. Big ups!

A few years ago Dj Sol and me put together a little Mix CD entitled „Snatched“. Instead of just doing 30 minute mixes and just put them together, we decided to play some ping pong instead. Dj Sol recorded his first part and sent it to me and I had to continue, then I sent it back again and he had to find something… Our styles are pretty different but still work good together in this mix, I still enjoy listening to it. When we finished the mix, beatmachine Mr. Ebs produced some beats for the intro and outro. The mix is still online on my soundcloud page, when you feel a 66 minutes boredom coming up, give it a listen.
For the 3rd episode we had some very special guests and it was the only time so far that we had our session at a different venue. Instead of our homebase Alte Feuerwache we organized the session and the following concert by the Rock Hard Bastards ( D – Styles, Toadstyle and DJ Excess) from the US at Disko 2. Unfortunately we got offered just one date to make this show happen and Alte Feuerwache wasn´t available for this day, so we had to find an alternative. We were very eager to invite them because they have always been a very big influence for us and when we got the confirmation for the venue we collected the money among our friends to make it happen… Thanks to everyone of you guys who gave some money and everyone who showed up for the concert, it was definitely worth it! It was the only show in Germany and even though it was during the week 2 guys from north Germany came all the way to enjoy the showcase. That´s what I call passion! Also big ups to Stav from QNQ Productions for organizing this tour and giving us the opportunity to meet our idols.
Sometimes you just need to put a picture on your facebook site and link some people to it and some unexpected things might happen. In this case it was this picture right here:
While I was in Africa i got even asked to do some more lettering for a flyer. Together with UK based Black Acre Records the peeps of Project Mooncircle organized a lable night at Club Gretchen in Berlin which I unfortunately missed. Hopefully I can make it the next time. Here´s the flyer:
Much thanks to the people at Project Mooncircle for giving me this oppurtunity! They even liked my lettering that much, that they put it on their website. Check the screenshot:
Last year we also had the idea for a new party concept in out town that focuses more on the producers and DJ´s instead of doing the same old rap shows over and over. Although Mannheim´s club scene has a lot of clubs compared to its size I don´t think that there is a lot of variety, especially when you´re not into mainstream or house music. Luckily the people in charge at Alte Feuerwache are open minded and willing to try something new instead of just „taking it to the bank“. Pushin´Buttons first guest was Berlin based producer Suff Daddy, who showcased some of his beats before he stepped on the tuntables to serve the crowd some delicious tunes. The HHV Mag published a little review as well (German only).
Definitely a nice guy!
Now that this website is finally ready, it´s time to reminisce about some events from the past. First I´d like to mention our little open-turntable scratch session entitled „Scratch Buffet„. I´ve had the idea for this kind of session for years but didn´t have the possibility to make it happen until 2011. The concept of the session is simple: scratch nerds come together to have a good time, but instead of meeting in small basements or appartments, we wanted to make it public so that people who don´t scratch themselves but are interested in it have the possibility to watch such a session usually being held behind closed doors. Usually DJ battles (which are very rare nowadays) are the only place where you meet a lot of fellow scratch nerds but as long as you don´t participate in such a battle yourself you will just be able to watch the event.
Our first session took place in March 2011 at Mannheim´s finest location, the Alte Feuerwache. Besides our third episode with the Rock Hard Bastards all the sessions took place at this venue.
